Spanish Language Acquisition

Professor Karen Miller tracks language change by analyzing linguistic data from Spanish-speaking children with Mexican parents and Spanish-speaking children with Chilean parents. She finds that when the language spoken by parents does not reflect their innate grammar, a child will acquire a grammar that is different from his or her parents.
