Purpose

Minds in the Making gathers the best essays, articles and reflections of the Calvin College community — faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends. Minds is intended as a helpful resource for the thoughtful Christian, inspiring the reader for intentional participation in the renewal of all things. We think the level of intellectual engagement and discourse demonstrated at this site illustrates the intent of a Calvin College education.

Minds in the Making is published quarterly by Calvin College and is open to submissions from members of the Calvin community. To send a submission, or to comment on the content of this magazine, e-mail minds@calvin.edu.

We've organized the Minds material under the following sections:

• Arts & Literature: books, music, art, reading, writing

• History: how the past illuminates the present and future

• Education: teaching and learning issues

• Lifestyle: everyday-life joys and concerns

• Nation & World: headline, current event reactions and observations

• Religion & Philosophy: spiritual, thought-provoking pieces

• Science & Technology: intersections of faith and research

It isn't easy to categorize every article, so some are included in more than one section.
