Dear Friends,
The H. Henry Meeter Center was founded in 1981 to provide
a base at Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for
an archive on Calvin, Calvinism, and the Reformation. The Meeter Center
reading room, rare book room, and offices occupy a section of the Hekman
Library on the fourth floor. Academic staff, undergraduate, and graduate
students, together with historians and other scholars from around the
world use the Meeter Center's impressive resources to pursue their own
research.
With a collection of approximately 5,000 monographs
in the reading room, around 500 early printed books in the rare book
room available for consultation upon request to the curator, over 18,000
articles on Calvin and Calvinism, and over 2,000 microforms, the Meeter
Center offers unparalleled access to key materials for research on Calvinism
and the Reformation more generally.
In order to continue to increase the Meeter Centers
collection, particularly its rare books, and in order to support scholarly
research through the provision of travel scholarships for visiting academics,
we are keen to recruit Friends in the local community and internationally
whose financial contributions will help to ensure that the Meeter Centers
reputation for excellence continues to grow.
In return for their annual membership fee, Friends
will receive copies of the Meeter Center newsletter, keeping them abreast
of events and on-going research in the field. They will also be invited
to special Friends events each year to thank them for their support
and to mark the arrival of early printed books in the collection. Finally,
all Friends will receive advance notice of any Meeter Center event and
priority tickets for occasions when these are required.
Your support for our work is deeply appreciated. Many
thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Karin Maag, Director
H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies
