Ward Holder is a church historian who works on the margin of social and theological history. His specialty is the consideration of the history of the nterpretation of the Bible. Beyond teaching and writing, he enjoys camping and hiking with his sons in the mountains of New England .

Calvin College

Karin Maag has been the director of the Meeter Center for Calvin Studies at Calvin College since 1997. She is the author of a monograph, several edited volumes, and a number of articles on various aspects of the Reformation, including the training of pastors and higher education in the early modern world. She enjoys teaching undergraduate survey classes, and looks forward to the conversation with participants in the institute. Outside of work, she spends time travelling to visit family in Canada and Britain , reading, baking, and singing in choirs.

Dr. Charles Parker

Hal Parker has research interests in the cultural and religious history of Europe in the sixteenth and seventeenth century, with a special focus on the Netherlands . He has written about social discipline and poor relief in Dutch Calvinism and has just completed a book on Catholicism in the seventeenth-century Netherlands , entitled "Faith on the Margins: Catholics and Catholicism in the Dutch Golden Age" (forthcoming 2007). In the past five years, he has been increasingly drawn to cross-cultural research questions beyond Europe and is now working on a survey of global interactions in the early modern age, focusing on long-distance trade, migration, biological exchange, missionary endeavor, transfer of knowledge, and empire-building. He is also an avid fan of the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals.

Dr. Larissa Taylor
Colby College in Maine

Larissa Juliet Taylor is Professor of History at Colby College, teaching courses ranging from late antiquity to Renaissance/Reformation, and even New France . With a specialty in late medieval French religious and cultural history, she has published extensively on preaching and is currently writing a new biography of Joan of Arc for Yale University Press and is editor of Brill's forthcoming Encyclopedia of Pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. She is a sports fanatic, a devout follower of the New England Patriots and other major league sports. Other interests include mystery reading and writing, hiking, and gastronomy.
