Adding Metadata in HDAQ

The Hekman Library has made it possible for participating departments to add images and accompanying metadata to the HDA by logging into the HDAQ system. For adding images, refer to the Adding Images in HDAQ document. Images and metadata that are entered into HDAQ will remain in this location until uploaded into the HDA by Library staff.

Once you log into HDAQ, choose the first option 1. Add a new entry (see Adding Images in HDAQ for more information on this procedure). Once you have chosen an image to process, a new browser will open containing blank fields for metadata information, similar to that shown in the image to the right.

Each of the metadata elements need to be entered in accordance with some basic guidelines. Clicking on the element name or the Example link should provide some guidance. For metadata that is consistent for a large number of images, it is possible to set defaults for each field by choosing HDAQ option 4, Change your settings.
