The Hekman Library has made it possible for participating departments
to add images and accompanying metadata to the HDA by logging into the
HDAQ system. For adding metadata, refer to the Adding Metadata in HDAQ
document. Images and metadata that are entered into HDAQ will remain in
this location until uploaded into the HDA by Library staff.
Department: (e.g.) Communication Arts and Science
Collection: (e.g.) Costume History
Go to the HDAQ login at http://www.calvin.edu/cgi-bin/lib/hdaq.pl,
or point to
- library's homepage
- A-Z Index
- HDAQ
Login: (e.g.) cas1
password: (e.g.) c0stum3
|
Once you log into HDAQ, you have four options:
- Add a new entry
- Edit an entry
- View your entries
- Change your settings
. This option will typically
be the most used option. When you click on this option, you will see
the a screen similar to image at the right. Clicking on browse will
allow you to locate where you have stored the image (e.g., your department's
common drive, your pc's C: drive, or images burned onto a CD). NOTE
that depending on the browser you are using, you may have to disignate
the "Files of Type" to look for files other than .html.
Once you have located and clicked on the image of your choice, click
on "Process Image." A new browser window will open that
will allow you to enter metadata for the image. |

If many images share common metadata (such as image source, copyright
information, etc.), it is possible to make this information default by
adding it into the settings for the login (HDAQ option 4. Change your
settings). Contact Chris Hirt with any questions regarding adding images
or changing the settings of your login.
