Calvin College Hekman Digital Library
Michigan Documents
(See also U.S. Government Documents)

In January 2003 the Hekman Library became a depository library for Michigan government documents. Michigan documents are classified using the Library of Congress system (as is the library's book collection). Michigan government documents can be found by searching WebCat, and their location will be shown as "MichDoc." Michigan documents are shelved in the last aisle of the blue compact shelving of the government documents department on the south side of 2nd floor.. These documents do not circulate. Also, a significant portion of the information published by the state of Michigan can be found online through the Hekman Library State Government Web pages.

Hekman is one of three Michigan documents depositories in the greater Grand Rapids area. The other depository libraries are Grand Rapids Public Library and Grand Valley State University libraries. The Michigan documents collection at the Hekman Library is just beginning to grow, and it contains many statistical publications. In addition to serving the persons on Calvin's campus, the Hekman collection of Michigan documents is available for use without fees by the general public.
The department is staffed during weekdays from 8:00 a.m until 5:00 p.m. Contact Diane VanderPol for more information.
