Sermons on the Web |
“Sermons on the Web are no substitute for the hard work that goes into
imaginative, sound, biblical preaching, but when used properly they can be an
aid to the development of the preaching pastor.” - For suggestions about
the proper use of online sermons, see “Sermons on the Web” in the
Winter
2003 issue
of the Calvin Theological Seminary Forum.
This page contains selective recommendations which should be useful to those looking for Web sites containing good sermons, available for free. We make no claim about the homiletical, exegetical or theological quality of all sermons accessed at these websites.
1) GENERAL WEB SITES
There are many general sites containing large collections of sermons, drawn
from a variety of different sources. Two of them which are very useful are:
Sermon Central
This website contains over 60,000 full-text sermons, and is searchable by Scripture
passage, keyword, topic, denominational affiliation, and preacher. For a fee
you can sign up for more search options and services, but the free part of this
site is entirely adequate.
Kir Shalom Sermon Resources
This website is maintained by Rev. Richard Fairchild for the United Church of
Canada. It is organized primarily by the church lectionary cycle, and doesn’t
have a scripture index. It does have exceptionally good links to other sermon
websites.
