Federal Government Information

GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by the Federal Government. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without restriction, unless specifically noted. The Hekman Library is a selective depository library serving Michigan's third congressional district in the Federal Depository Library Program, and as such provides access either in a tangible format (paper, microfiche, CD-ROM) or electronic format to the basic documents recommended for depositories as well as to thousands of other government documents and information products.

More and more federal documents are being made available online. The following sites provide links to online versions:

• New Electronic Titles list on GPO Access gives a list of electronic titles by agency.
• The Federal Depository Library Program Electronic Collections is composed of primary data sources in full-text (such as Core Documents of U.S. Democracy) and secondary data sources or finding tools at GPO or at other official sites. Congressional Budget Office Provides Congress with economic and budgetary information.

Government Accountability Office Contains decisions of the Comptroller General, Reports and Testimony, and recently released reports evaluating government programs and activities.

Government Printing Office The official printer and distributor of publications for Congress and other governmental agencies is increasingly accomplishing this function electronically. Includes access to publications of the Congress, Office of Management and Budget, State Department, Superintendent of Documents and many others.

Library of Congress Browse historical collections in the National Digital Library (American Memory), learn about copyright, search the library's online catalog, and much more. The THOMAS database of legislative information includes text for bills, the Congressional Record, the text of the Constitution, and additional internet links.

Supreme Court of the United States The official site of the U.S. Supreme Court gives information about the Court, Docket, Calendar, Rules, Case Handling Guides, Opinions, Orders, Bar Admissions, Visiting the Court, Public Information, and includes links to related web sites.
