Spirituality, Justice, and Pedagogy
The Stapleford Centre, Kuyers Institute, and Association of Christian Teachers announce the publication of Spirituality, Justice, and Pedagogy, a volume of essays from the conference of the same title that was hosted by the Kuyers Institute in October, 2005.

This volume of essays takes a probing look at issues that arise when educators seek to teach justly, to teach for justice, and to combine these with spiritual commitment and a concern for learners' spiritual growth. In addition to an introductory article by the editors, essays include:

  • Nicholas Wolterstorff, "Teaching Justly for Justice"
  • Glenn E. Sanders, "Exposing Students to Intractable Problems: Christian Faith and Justice in a Course on the Middle East"
  • Philip Fountain and Chris Elisara, "Being Is Believing? Out-of-the-Box (Subversive) Education"
  • Doug Blomberg, "The Formation of Character: Spirituality Seeking Justice"
  • Steven H. VanderLeest, "Teaching Justice by Emphasizing the Non-neutrality of Technology"
  • Louis B. Gallien and LaTrelle Jackson, "Character Development from African-American Perspectives: Toward a Counternarrative Approach"
  • Bradford S. Hadaway, "Preparing the Way for Justice: Strategic Dispositional Formation Through the Spiritual Disciplines"
This collection is the first in an occasional series of special issues of the Journal of Education and Christian Belief and is edited by David I. Smith, John Shortt, and John Sullivan. North American orders can be placed through the Calvin College bookstore; other areas of the world may purchase the volume from the Stapleford Centre.
