Marcie Pyper and Cynthia Slagter, professors of Spanish at Calvin College, were awarded a grant in 2006 to create and test curricular materials for the Spanish classroom. The two-year project is now completed and uses autobiographical data from Dr. Elsa Cortina, a Cuban refugee and professor emerita at Calvin College, to develop curricular materials for high school and college classrooms.
