Accounts Overview

All student accounts remain active as long as a student is registered for classes and until October 1st following graduation.

KnightVision
KnightVision is Calvin’s eCommunity, an online environment that brings together academic communities, announcements, social activities, student discussion boards, student organizations, course registration, course material, and more in an easy-to-use format. Access to KnightVision is gained with your Calvin username and passphrase. KnightVision is accessible at http://knightvision.calvin.edu.

Secured resources, such as access to your online course registration, class schedule and grades and transcripts, are also offered to you in KnightVision on the My Resources tab, and require an additional login using your KnightVision passphrase.

To activate your KnightVision account, go to http://knightvision.calvin.edu/ and click on the Activate Account link. You will receive your KnightVision passphrase during this process.

Novell Accounts
Novell accounts are provided to each Calvin student as a location to store academic and course-related documents on Calvin's network. Please do not store personal movie, picture, or sound files on the network. Students can access his or her Novell accounts by logging into Novell on campus, and/or by accessing their Novell account via the internet using NetStorage.

You must activate your account before using it for the first time. You will be asked to provide your KnightVision passphrase to open the activation page.

Telephone Service in Residence Halls
There is one telephone and multiple phone jacks in each dorm room. Local calling is provided at no charge. Students needing to make long distance calls should make other arrangements. Calling cards may be purchased at the Campus Store.
Telephone services to the room will be suspended and disciplinary action will be taken for tampering with or altering present equipment. All equipment must remain in the room. Charges will be incurred for broken or missing equipment.

Personal Web Space
As a Calvin student you are given 45MB of space on Calvin's web server to develop personal web pages and store email.

PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Some buildings on campus, such as the residence halls and apartments, have security card-readers to allow access to the building. After passing your Calvin-ID through the card-reader you might be required to enter your PIN to gain access to the building. Once you have activated your accounts, login to KnightVision, click on Show me my PIN/PAC link in the menu on the left.

Webmail
As a Calvin student you are given 45MB of space on Calvin's web server to develop personal web pages and store email. Webmail uses the same username and passphrase as KnightVision, and can be accessed at https://webmail.calvin.edu.
