What is MOX? MOX provides mobile access to the Calvin portal! MOX allows you to access several mobile portal features such as maps, courses, news, and important numbers from your smartphone or tablet device. MOX is free to download and currently available for: iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, running iOS3.x or iOS4.x Google Android v2.1+ BlackBerry OS v5.0

How do I get MOX?

1. On your mobile device, visit your mobile app store/market and search for MOX. You can also use the links or QR codes below.
2. Download the free MOX app to your smartphone.
3. Open the app and select Calvin College from the list of options.
4. Login using your Calvin username (ex. jcc2) and passphrase.

What MOX features are available?

Not all MOX features integrate with Calvin's portal. Features currently available for Calvin users include:

News - events and stories directly from Calvin's News & Stories

Important Numbers - directory information for departments and offices at Calvin, including the ability to search for contact information as well as location

Courses - a list of your current courses in alphabetical order, including the ability to access an overview of the course which includes faculty, session times, and location (including address and map)

Maps - detailed street and satellite maps of the entire campus, including the ability to search for and select locations and get detailed directions based on GPS coordinates

 

How do I manually refresh MOX content?

Apple

1. Go to Settings icon on iPhone, iPad, or iTouch.
2. Click on MOX.
3. Set “Forget University” to Yes. 
4. You may need to stop the application from running in the background. To do this, follow these steps:
   
   • Push the home button twice quickly. This will bring up the multi-task bar which shows all
     of the apps running in the background on your device. If you select any application
     icon, it will be brought to the foreground.
   • Push and hold down you finger on one of the application icons. The applications
     will start to jump around similar to when you re-arrange applications on the home
     screen. Also a minus sign will appear on the upper left hand corner of the application
     icons.
   • If you push on one of the minus signs of the MOX application, the app will be
     terminated and no longer run in the background.  After terminating, push the home
     button to return your device to normal.
5. The next time you start up MOX, you should be prompted for the University again.
6. After selecting Calvin College, you should be able to see the updated information in Important Numbers or Maps.
   
   

Android and BlackBerry

1. Go into the MOX app
2. Click on the Menu button
3. Click on Settings
4. Check the boxes for
   • Forget University
   • Reset User Settings
   • Repair Database
   • Empty Image Cache
5. Click Apply
