Weekly Schedule of Network Maintenance

Although 24/7 access to our servers is often necessary, routine maintenance and upgrades are equally necessary. To prevent inconveniences, we have established weekly maintenance times for our major systems.

Please do not run any processes or access systems during their scheduled maintenance times. We will keep our maintenance site updated with the schedule for the week. CIT-Alerts will not be sent out unless we are doing something outside of these agreed upon downtimes or where we have indicated we will send notification.

System Maintenance Times
Notice

Administrative Systems (Colleague, Colleague Legacy)

8 am – 8 pm, Sundays, only as needed

 

We will provide 24-48 hours notice when taking down our administrative servers.
Novell

8 am – 8 pm, Sundays, only as needed

When needed, we will also use one day of the Christmas week to perform necessary upgrades or maintenance.

We will provide 24-48 hours notice when taking down our Novell servers.
Moodle 5:00 am to 7:30 am, Thursdays

When a longer down time is required, we will provide 24-48 hours notice.

Linux and Windows Servers

5:00 am to 7:30 am, Thursdays

Typically, windows servers will be patched either the third or fourth Thursday of each month.

When a longer down time is required, we will provide 24-48 hours notice.
Networking and Internet Infrastructure (including the wireless system) 5:00 am to 7:30 am, Thursdays No additional notice.
Telephone Voice-mail

No weekly schedule required

We will provide 24-48 hours notice when taking down the telephone/ voice-mail service.
CIT Internal Use Only
VMWARE Infrastructure No weekly schedule required When maintenance is required, affected users will be contacted: typically, only CIT employees .

We reserve the right, to take down any of our infrastructure or servers as needed for emergency situations.  As much notice as possible will be provided.
