North Hall 162

Calvin College now has another “super-smart” classroom – North Hall 162. In this room, various new technologies were installed:

  • PolyVision’s Copy Cam
  • PolyVision’s Walk-N-Talk with Interactive Panel
  • PolyVision’s Huddleboards (enough to build a billboard)
  • PolyVision’s Edge whiteboards
  • Dual projection from Epson

The Copy Cam allows groups and individuals to take pictures of the contents on either a larger whiteboard or on their own huddleboards. These pictures are then immediately available on a Web-based server.

The Walk-N-Talk allows the professor and/or guest speaker(s) to use a large whiteboard essentially as a large mouse – similar to the functionality in a Smart Board. The board allows the professor to double click on a link from across the room, for example, and both the board and the PC on the lectern will follow that link. The results can be seen on the attractively done dual projection systems. Also, speakers can annotate and highlight items as well as toggle between a cursor and a pen mode.

Special thanks go out to Bob Eames, Associate Professor in the Business & Economics Department, whose vision and fundraising efforts made this project possible.  Thanks also to the Business & Economics Department for their support of the project as well as the efforts from various personnel from CIT, Physical Plant, Audio/Visual, Custer Workplace Interiors, as well as others who helped bring this project to fruition.
