All Calvin courses have a *Mailman mailing list associated with it. The instructor(s) and all students enrolled in a course are included on its mailing list. (*Mailman is a free software for managing mailing lists.)
How do I use the mailing list?
Send an e-mail to coursename@list.calvin.edu from your Calvin e‑mail account. (Example: If you are teaching 11SP_EDUC-205A, you would send e-mail to 11SP-EDUC205A@list.calvin.edu.)
Who can use a class mailing list?
Only members of a class can send and recevie emails via the class mailing list.
Do combined courses have one class mailing list?
Combined courses do NOT have a single mailing list available; however, each section does have its own mailing list available for use.
Can I add file attachments?
The e-mail can be in html or plain text and can have small file attachments (up to 2 MB).
The following file extensions are NOT allowed as file attachments:

Can someone outside the class to be part of the mailing list?
In order to keep our class lists in sync with offical college rosters, subscribing and unsubscribing to a class mailing list is not permitted, people from outside a course cannot be added to a mailing list, and CIT is not able to customize who is or is not on the list.
Are class mailing lists moderated?
No, anyone who is a member of the class can send a message to the mailing list. If someone who is not enrolled in a course sends e-mail to the list, the instructor will have to approve the message before it will be sent out to the rest of the class. (Optional: During this approval process, the instructor can indicate that future messages from that e-mail address always be sent through, but this will not officially add them to the mailing list.)
Can I create groups within my mailing list?
No, since membership of the lists are driven only by Colleague data, they cannot customized.
When are the lists created?
Apr 15 - Jun 30 - IN, SP, MA, SU, FA semesters available
July 1 - Oct 31 - SU, FA semesters available
Nov 1 - Jan 31 - SU, FA, IN, SP, MA semesters available
Feb 1 - Apr 14 - IN, SP, MA semesters available.
