e-mail: Installing the GroupWise Windows client at home

Please note that the CIT HelpDesk supports GroupWise WebAccess for off-campus access to GroupWise. The instructions provided below are offered "Use at your own risk."

Because of our licensing agreement with Novell, CIT can no longer provide the GroupWise client installer from CD. The installer for the GroupWise 7.0.3 HP client can be found on the Novell Website.

  1. Go to http://www.novell.com
  2. Before you can download the software you must first login or create an account on the Novell site. Click on the +Menu link.

  3. From the menu that is displayed, click on Create new account (if you already have an account click login then go to step 6)
  4. Follow the instructions to create a new account.
  5. Once you have successfully logged in, go back to http:\\www.novell.com Click on the +Menu link.

    and click on downloads.
  6. In the Novell Downloads page select GroupWise 7.0.3 then click on Search.

  7. You want to download the GroupWise 7.0.2 Client for Windows.
  8. You want GroupWise 7 SP3 Windows Client US and MULTI 703. Click the 2 Files button (see above). In the next window click on Download button
  9. You will be asked to read their download policy.
  10. You want to download the following file:
    Save file
  11. When prompted, save the file to your desktop and remove it after installation.
  12. Locate the gw703_client_win_us.exe file on your desktop and double-click on the file then click on Run. You will be prompted to select a location to unzip the files. We suggest you create a folder on your desktop called Gwise Install and unzip to that folder.
  13. Go to where you uncompressed the files and and open the folder Win32. Double-click theSave filefile to begin the installation (it might say setup.exe).
  14. Follow the on-screen instructions until the client has finished installing.
  15. You can then go back and delete the desktop folder and the gw703_client_win_us.exe file.
  16. To start the Windows client, double-click the GroupWise icon on your Windows desktop.
  17. To connect to GroupWise first be sure you have an Internet connection established then double-click on the GroupWise Desktop icon.
  18. Configure the Novell GroupWise Startup dialog box:

  19. After entering your GroupWise password GroupWise should open and you should automatically connect to Calvin's GroupWise server.
  20. Once the installation is complete you can delete the Client folder that was created on your desktop.
