GroupWise allows you to archive items like messages and appointments for long-time storage. The
archive process can be done anytime using the client software, or you can set it to archive automatically. You can
select any message(s) to be archived, but you cannot select a folder to be archived. If the selected
message is in a folder, GroupWise will automatically create the same folder within the archive.

Where is my GroupWise archive stored?
PC Users
All archive locations have been set to H:\groupwise\archive. We selected this location because files stored on network drives are backed up on a regular basis and can be immediately accessed from a new computer.
Mac Users
If you are a Mac user and would like to use the Archive function, please contact the HelpDesk and request that your Archive location be unlocked. This will give you the ability to specify the location of the archive. Please be aware that we cannot fully support archiving anywhere other than Calvin's network drives. You may archive to another location such as an external drive, but CIT cannot guarantee that the data will not become lost or corrupt. Once you have request to have your archive location unlocked, CIT is not able to offer any support relating to the archive.
How do I use my GroupWise archive?
Simply right-click on an item and select Move to Archive. The items you selected should disappear from your GroupWise mailbox. To view your archive, click the Online button at the top of the file list on the left and select Archive. This will toggle you into your Archive. You can only use your archive on a computer with the full GroupWise client that is logged in via Novell.
Does the archive have a size limitation?
Your archive is stored on your H:\ (home) drive. Your home drive has a limit of 20 GB.
How do I check the size of my archive?
Unlike your inbox, your archive will not warn you when you are approaching the size limit. Although you will be allowed to access your archive and delete items even when it is too full to archive any more items, it is worth your while to check the size of your archive on a regular basis.
- Double-click on the My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows 7) icon on your desktop.
- Double-click on your H:\ drive.
- Locate the folder called groupwise. Right click on it and select Properties.
- Under the General tab, look for the Size On Disk.
To reduce the size of your archive, open GroupWise and select File > Open Archive. Delete any e-mails that you no longer need to access. Remember to empty the Trash after you delete the messages.
If you have questions about your GroupWise archive, please e-mail the HelpDesk or call x6-8555.
