e-mail: GroupWise Junk Mail Handling

Not getting e-mail that students, seminary, or those outside of our GroupWise system are sending to you? It could be that the GroupWise Junk Mail Handling settings are preventing these e-mails from getting through to you.GroupWise logo

Open GroupWise and:

  • Select Tools > Junk Mail Handling > Block List
  • Select Tools > Junk Mail Handling > Junk List

Check:

  • that the calvin.edu domain is NOT part of either list.
  • that the user's domain (gmail.com, hotmail.com) or complete e-mail address is NOT part of either list.

Look at your GroupWise Junk Mail Handling Settings

Select Tools > Junk Mail Handling > Junk List > Settings. CIT does NOT recommend you use the settings:

  • Enable Junk Mail using personal address books
  • Enable Junk Calendaring using personal address books.

Why?: If anyone send you e-mail that is not in one of your personal address books, the e-mail will be sent to your Junk Mail folder. Many students use hotmail or gmail to send e-mail.

For complete information on using the Junk Mail Handling feature, please see the Novell GroupWise Client user guide Section 3.8 Managing Received Items then scroll down to Section 3.8.10, Handling Unwanted Mail
