Adobe Dreamweaver CS 5.x or 6.x

Configuring the site definition for department page

These instructions are for Dreamweaver CS 5 or 6. If you need to be upgraded to Dreamweaver CS 6, please contact the HelpDesk or use this form to request a newer version. Please be able to provide the 5-digit asset tag number for your computer (located on the "Property of Calvin College" barcode sticker).

  1. Open Dreamweaver
  2. Click the "Site" menu and choose "New Site..."
  3. Click the "Site" tab at the top left. Enter whatever name you would like for "Site Name:" (ex. "Biology Department"). For the "Local Site Folder:" you need to enter the path to where your site is designated on the W: drive. Click the little folder button to the right of the field, browse out to your site's folder on the W: drive, and click "Select."
  4. Click "Save" and then click "Done."

Publishing your web site

When you have finished making changes to your site and saving them to your designated folder on the W: drive, you will need to run the Web Update Button to make these changes live on the Calvin site.

The Web Update Button is located at the following link. If you are a department site webmanager you may want to bookmark this site:

http://www.calvin.edu/cgi-bin/webupdate.pl

Find your department/even/institute in the list, click on it once to select it, then click the Update button. You will see the script running as it checks your site on the W: drive and publishes any changes. Note: larger sites may take a few minutes to update.
