CIT will provide the following items as part of each laptop package:

  • Laptop computer with Calvin's standard specifications
  • Standard Calvin software (e.g. Office, GroupWise, etc.)
  • External mouse
  • Carry case
  • Security cable

Any items wanted/needed beyond this laptop package must be paid for by the department or individual. These items may include an extra A/C power adapter, a port replicator, or an external keyboard.

Monitors

Many users are have expressed interest in flat panel displays. CIT has found that even as prices for LCD displays have come down, so have the prices for CRT displays. The Calvin standard display will continue to be a 17" CRT. LCD displays will be deployed only in situations deemed appropriate.

Small peripherals

CIT provides a complete standard computer system for each user which includes the standard keyboard and mouse. CIT strives to provide hardware that will meet the needs of the majority of users on campus.

CIT recognizes that some users may need or prefer a different mouse or keyboard (small peripheral) than that which is provided. CIT also recognizes that some users may need or prefer another small peripheral (speakers, microphone, etc) that is not provided. CIT does not provide funding from the CIT Technology budget for such small peripherals. It is the responsibility of the department to fund these purchases.

These small peripheries items may be purchased from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, the Calvin Campus store, Corporate Express and CompUSA.
