Update on the LMS (Learning Management System) project

CIT is excited to announce that Moodle was selected as Calvin's new open source LMS (Learning Management System). Moodle, a leader in open source LMS products, provides many of the same features found in the course options for KnightVison.

Instead of installing Moodle on one of Calvin's file servers, we have contracted with Moodlerooms to host the service for us. Moodlerooms was founded in 2005 and will be able to provide us the support and expertise needed to get Moodle up and running quickly. Using Moodlerooms will allow us to contain the cost of our new product and it will not require new hardware or additional CIT staff for support.

CIT's Teaching & Learning team will be working with faculty during the spring and summer months to get courses moved to Moodle for fall semester 2010. We will host LunchBytes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions to help with this transition. Watch Calvin News for more information.

Because there are so many uses of KnightVision, we have extended our contract with Blackboard (KnightVision) until June 2011 to give us time to complete all the items included in the conversion.

Go to the Moodle web site for additional information.
