Student drive mappings to change on June 17

On Wednesday, June 17, 2009, the letter mapping for student home accounts is changing from F:\ to H:\. This move will ONLY affect the drive mapping and not the file server the students access. The actual move to a new file server will occur at a later time.

History

Back in October, CIT started making changes to Calvin's Novell file server system. These changes affect where faculty, staff and students store and access their files. These changes:

  • Make sharing files between people from different departments easier. We'll easily be able to create a secure folder just for you and your team. This might be 3 people or a committee of 20. This folder is stored on Denali in R:\teams
  • All department common drives will be on the Denali (R:) file server. Granting access to multiple department common drives is simplified.
  • Resolve the current conflict with USB or external drives.
  • Help CIT manage the network.

CIT has already moved most administrative home and department drives to the new file structure and will be moving faculty home and department drives during the summer.
