Security: Using the Windows Screen Saver

Changing the Windows screen saver settings

  1. Right-click a blank area of your desktop and select Properties
  2. Select the Screen Saver tab
  3. The On resume, password protect will already be turned on.
  4. The wait time is set to 10 minutes by default. This is the recommended setting. You can make this time longer or shorter however please remember that the screen saver settings are there to protect sensitive data.

You can lock the workstation immediately:

  • by pressing <CTRL>+<ALT>+<DELETE>and selecting Lock Workstation
  • by pressing Window + L.

Changing the screen saver

To change the screen saver that is displayed:

  1. Right-click a blank area of your desktop and select Properties
  2. Select the Screen Saver tab
  3. Click the down-arrow under Screen saver and select the desired Screen saver. Each screen saver has different Settings.
  4. Click OK when finished.
