    SafeAssign integrated in KnightVision helps prevents plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content used in submitted documents. SafeAssign can also further deter plagiarism by creating opportunities to educate students on proper attribution and citations while properly leveraging the wealth of information at their disposal.
  • Scheduled Maintenance blog
    CIT maintains a maintenance schedule for planned network/server changes and planned changes/updates to desktop software. When maintenance is scheduled, this blog will be updated with the information.

    Maintaining a secure computer environment at Calvin is more than just protecting your computer from viruses, spyware, and hackers, it's also about protecting the sensitive college information to which you have access. While Calvin CIT works hard to make the network as secure as possible, you must do your part.

    A variety of productivity and academic software packages are available for faculty, staff, and student use. Calvin uses the Microsoft Office suite of software: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. Macromedia's Dreamweaver and Fireworks are used for for Web development.

    One of the ways CIT maintains the security of your office computer is by pushing software updates and patches to it. Sometimes these updates and patches run “silently” and it won't disrupt your work. Sometimes these updates and patches require some action on your part.

  • Take IT Home: software for faculty & staff home use
    Calvin CIT no longer provides software for home installation. Please see our personal purchase page.
  • Teaching and Learning (T&L)
    CIT's five-member Teaching and Learning team works directly
    with faculty to support technology in education. The Digital Studio, skills training, and faculty development classes are examples of the Teaching and Learning team's responsibilities. Team members are available to work with faculty in developing KnightVision course content.

    CIT provides Calvin faculty a comprehensive exam-scoring and reporting service, using machine-readable "bubble" forms and the NCS examSYSTEM II software. Using this system you can create a variety of detailed, reports, which are provided in both printed and HTML formats , or you can save in a comma delimited data file that you can use to create your own reports.
  • The Hoot
    The Hoot is a casual, on-going publication focusing on the topics and issues of the teaching and learning process, especially the use of technology. The Hoot features pedagogical best practices, Calvin faculty highlights, time-saving tips, as well as emerging technologies and other new ideas we pick up along the way.

    The IT Connection, is a weekly on-line newsletter for all the latest news and events that are happening in Calvin Information Technology that affect the faculty and staff of Calvin College.

    ZENworks is the system we use to install software, software updates, fixes and security patches to your computer.
