Faculty Technology Checklist

KnightVision Course Generation/Removal Schedule

 

Jan | Feb | Mar | April | May | June | July | Aug | Sept | Oct | Nov | Dec
August (or before classes begin)

August 1 - Last day to request software installation in labs and Smart Classrooms.
Develop and copy your Master Course(s) into your semester course(s). Combine sections of like courses in KnightVision (optional).
Make your course available to your students.
Add TAs or graders to your course(s).
Reserve a computer lab (from OCCE).
Reserve a bagged set of clickers -OR-
Prepare to use the Classroom Performance System (CPS) Higher Education Model.
Check the class picture generator to see students' photos (must be logged into KV).


September

Familiarize yourself with your Advisee organization in KnightVision


October/November

Summer courses will be removed on October 1.

Begin thinking about your academic technology needs for Interim/Spring. Post a sign-up sheet in your KV Advisee organization for Academic Advising using the wiki.

If you are using the Classroom Performance System (CPS) HIgher Ed Model in the Spring:
Notify CIT's T&L team if you will be using the clickers during Interim/Spring, and provide:

  • the section number(s) of your course(s)
  • the room location(s) of your course(s)
  • the number of student you expect will be enrolled in each course

Notify the Campus Store if you will be using clickers during Interim/Spring, and provide:

  • the section number(s) of your course(s) using clickers
  • the number of students you expect will be in each course

November 1 - Interim course(s) are available to instructors in KnightVision


December

Request academic software installation in labs and Smart Classrooms.

  • by December 1 - Interim
  • by December 15 - Spring

Copy your Semester Course(s) back into your Master Course(s) &/or
Archive your Semester Course(s).
Archive your Grade Center(s).

Note: Even if you don't archive your course(s), it's a good idea to archive your grade center(s)

If needed, request KV course extension.


January

Fall courses will be removed February 1.

February 1 - Check the class picture generator to see students' photos (must be logged into KV).
Familiarize yourself with your Advisee organization in KnightVision.
If needed, request KV course extension.


March

Interim courses will be removed March 1.

Post a sign-up sheet in your KV Advisee organization for Academic Advising using the wiki. Begin thinking about your academic technology needs for Summer/Fall.


April

Begin thinking about your academic technology needs for Summer. Request academic software installation in labs and Smart Classrooms.

  • by April 15 - Summer

May/June

Spring courses will be removed July 1.

Begin thinking about your academic technology needs for Fall.
Copy your Semester Course(s) back into your Master Course(s) &/or
Archive your Semester Course(s).
Archive your Grade Center(s).

Note: Even if you don't archive your course(s), it's a good idea to archive your grade center(s)

Add "Purchase Clicker" to your syllabus as a required course material.
Register your KnightVision course(s) with eInstruction.

May 15 - Class pictures for Summer are available in the class picture generator on
the Resources Tab in KV to see pictures of your students (must be logged into KV).

Before Summer Classes begin

Combine sections of like courses in KnightVision (optional).
Make your course(s) available to your students.
Add TAs or graders to your course(s).
Reserve a computer lab (from OCCE).


July

Spring courses will be removed July 1.
