Calvin faculty, staff, emeriti, retirees, and students have been receiving spam emails the past several weeks that appear to come from an official Calvin entity. The subject lines have titles such as:
“UPGRADE YOUR CALVIN WEBMAIL ACCOUNT NOW”
“UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT"
"PLEASE PROTECT YOUR CALVIN.EDU ACCOUNT FROM BEING CLOSED"
These emails are phishing attacks and not from Calvin.
Please note the Calvin HelpDesk (or any other Calvin entity) would never ask
you to verify your passphrase and providing your username and password to
another person is a violation of Calvin's Acceptable Use Policy. In order to
protect your information and Calvin's IT systems, if CIT detects that your
account has been compromised it will disable your account and contact you so you can change your passphrase.
If you receive any other emails asking for personal information please
delete them and DO NOT RESPOND. Responding to these emails could compromise personal or college information. |
