The Calvin Annual Business Partners Awards Luncheon honors businesses and individuals that have partnered with our business program in creating outstanding learning opportunities for students over the past several years.
This year we were excited that Jason Hanson, former NFL placekicker for the Detroit Lions, was our keynote speaker.
Topic: Faith, Vocation, and 21 Years in the NFL
Speaker: Jason Hanson
Jason Hanson Bio:
Jason Hanson spent his entire 21-year professional football career with the Detroit Lions, before announcing his retirement in April 2013. Considered one of the NFL's most productive kickers, Hanson holds or shares eight NFL records, including most career seasons (21) and games (327) with a single franchise. He also holds the record for most field goals of 40 or more yards (189) and 50 or more yards (52).
Hanson was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. He attended and played football for Washington State University, where he set or tied numerous NCAA records and graduated with a bachelor's degree in pre-medical studies. Hanson was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1992. During his time with the Lions, Hanson was named All-Pro three times and also represented the NFC twice in the Pro Bowl.
