Participation

Sign in at the Seminary Pond on Friday night. Plan to wear coats and shoes until ready to jump. Say the pledge with more than three hundred other jumpers. Fully submerge yourself in the pond. Grab your Cold Knight Club towel and run for a hot shower.

All those who participate in the Cold Knight Club Sem Pond Jump for four consecutive years become a member of the Golden Towel Club. Each jumper receives a Golden Towel and has their names engraved on a towel displayed in the alumni office.

The Pledge

All those who wish to become members of the Cold Knight Club recite this oath, led by Prof. Randy Buursma, before the plunge into the Sem Pond begins:

We promise to leap into the Sem Pond,
Surrendering ourselves to the icy waters,
And embracing our falleness as creatures.

And when the waters cover our entire body
And our feet are mired in muck,
We will be given the grace
To emerge from the depths
As lifelong members of the Cold Knight Club.

Having attained our reward,
We will serve our fellow humanity
Knowing that we have gone
Where few dare to tread.

All for one,
one for all.

History

2008 marks the 10th annual jump into the Seminary Pond. A total of six hundred eight-five people have jumped at least one time during the past nine years. For lists of all participants, as well as those eligible for the Golden Towel Award this year, see the Golden Towel web site.
