"How Calvin Fathered the Renaissance in Christian Philosophy" During the past thirty years, there has been a remarkable renaissance in Christian philosophy, especially, but not only, in the United States. For example, the Society of Christian Philosophers now has more than 1200 members. The philosophers who have taught at and graduated from, Calvin College, have played a central role in this renaissance. In this anecdotal talk, Yale professor and Calvin grad, Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff will describe what their role was. 3:30 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2001, Seminary Auditorium. The Calvin College Art Department's Venerable Scripts. Words are images. This exhibition will include self-consciously Jewish, Christian, and Islamic works, as well as a few works from outside those traditions to present something of the breadth and power of both historic and contemporary calligraphic imaging in paintings, pages, books, pottery, illustrations, and other objects on display.
