Semester in DC - Greystone House

Housing for the Calvin College students attending the Semester in Washington D.C. is arranged through the Washington Intern Housing Network. WIHN's Greystone House is located at 1243 New Jersey Ave., N.W. in Washington D.C., approximately half a mile from two metro stations. Bus service to Capitol Hill stops in front of the house.

Greystone House was originally built as a secretarial school at the turn of the 20th century, and is now a large hisotric home with 3600 square feet of fully furnished space for Washington D.C. interns. The four level house has 10 bedrooms and 7 full bathrooms (students will be assigned two to each bedroom), with shared kitchen, dining room and living room space for all house occupants. Laundry facilities are in the basement on site. Utilities, internet and cable TV service are included in the room and board cost charged to the student.

The property is located in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington D.C., an area that is in the midst of a revitalization that began in 2002. In 2004, the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District was founded to provide community services and market the neighborhood. Restaurants, retail establishments, and grocery stores are nearby Greystone House, and many young working professionals are moving into the area..

Interns are expected to follow the rules for conduct specified by the Washington Intern Housing Network (WIHN), as well as to follow the policies established by Calvin for the behavior and conduct of students.
