St. Louis University: Assistant Professor in Classical and Contemporary Political Theory

The Department of Political Science at Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach courses in classical and contemporary political theory beginning in the fall of 2005. Preference will be given to a candidate with the ability to teach in one other sub-field of the discipline, especially in American or comparative politics. The Ph.D. in political science should be completed before the time of appointment.

Calvin College: Professor of International Relations

The Department of Political Science at Calvin College invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin August, 2005 (pending final administrative approval). Candidates trained primarily in international relations who can demonstrate both scholarly potential and strong teaching ability are being sought. Applicants must be capable of teaching courses in international organization and international political economy, as well as the basic course in international politics. Additional ability to teach courses in a combination of the following areas would be most welcome: conflict/security studies, globalization studies, Asian politics, and/or Middle Eastern politics.

Calvin College is a co-educational, four-year, liberal arts college, with a distinctively Reformed Christian character. Azusa Pacific University: Assistant/Associate Professor of American Government and Politics

The Department of History and Political Science of Azuma Pacific University invites applications for a position in American Government and Politics. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. and should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts program. Previous teaching experience and demonstrated commitment to scholarship are desired. Candidates must have a religious commitment compatible with the mission of this evangelical Christian university. Candidates must be willing to work closely with individual students in coursework as well as in academic and personal counseling. Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith” and to adhere to policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.

The successful applicant must be able to teach American Government, Public Policy, and some combination of upper-division courses in American politics (Presidency, Congress, Political Parties, State and Local Politics). An ability to teach lower and upper division writing courses and courses with a substantial liberal arts content is strongly desired. Involvement in departmental and university affairs is expected. Responsibilities may include supervision of internships at the local, state, and national levels, and promotion of student involvement in such activities.

Salary in accordance with rank and experience. Fringe benefits include a TIAA-CREF retirement plan, and medical, life, disability, and dental insurance.
