THE HORIZON AWARD

The MBA@Calvin committee announces the Horizon Award, an award which will be presented by MBA@Calvin to recognize outstanding young alumni business professionals who demonstrate significant contributions to their field and the impact of faith on their work.

Read the award criteria and then nominate a Calvin alum to be a future award recipient.

Business Careers Dinner

MBA@Calvin members are invited to attend the Business Careers Dinner. This annual dinner brings together internship hosts and other Calvin business partners, and it allows business and accounting students to mingle with professionals. Networking over a business dinner is an important skill for students to learn, and for many, this is their first opportunity to do so.

Director, Collegiate Employment Research Institute at MSU
Author and presenter, "Recruiting Trends" report
Gardner will talk about trends in employment and recruiting.

The MBA@Calvin Horizon Award will be presented to Brad Haverkamp '95.

Featured speaker: John Spoelhof

Spoelhof will talk about persevering during tough economic times.

Mr. John Spoelhof's early career activity involved tool and die, including ownership of a machine tool sales organization in Grand Rapids.

In 1969 Spoelhof joined Prince Corporation, where his tenure included leadership of sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operations throughout the years.  He was named president of the organization in 1980 and ultimately retired from the automotive industry in 1999.  At that time he became chairman of the investment group Bayside Capital.

Spoelhof's family priorities start with his wife of 47 years, Judy, four married sons, and 13 grandchildren.  All four sons are Calvin graduates, and three of them hold MBA degrees.
