Calvin Scholarships (2012-13)

75% first-year students who receive renewable academic scholarships

Calvin scholarships celebrate the hard work you've done during high school and provide opportunities to expand your gifts even further in college. Many of these scholarships are renewable and can be excellent resources for offsetting college costs. 

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Once you're admitted, you are automatically considered for academic scholarships based on information provided in your admission materials, including:

  • Unweighted cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • ACT or SAT score (not including the writing section)
  • Admissions application information detailing involvement, leadership, honors and cross-cultural experiences.

Dean's* 3.8 Unweighted GPA and 28 ACT or 1250 SAT
Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 
$6,500–8,000
Faculty Honors* 3.6 Unweighted GPA and a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT
Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 
$4,500–6,000
Honors* 3.4 Unweighted GPA and a 24 ACT or 1090 SAT
 
Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative Calvin GPA of 3.2
$2,500–4,000
Knollcrest* 3.2 Unweighted GPA and a 22 ACT or 1020 SAT
 
Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative Calvin GPA of 3.0

*These scholarships are available for transfer students. Cumulative college GPA is also taken into consideration.

Thanks to the generous gifts of Calvin alumni and friends, Calvin offers over 1,200 additional scholarships.

Use the Calvin Scholarship Search to find scholarships (available in Oct.)

  • Must be admitted by February 1 for consideration
  • For many scholarships, you are automatically considered for endowed scholarships based on your admission materials.
  • Some scholarships require submitting a letter or application by February 1.

Music Scholarships
  • Apply here by January 18.
  • Auditions will be held on Calvin's campus on February 11; recorded auditions must be submitted by January 18.

DIVERSITY AWARDS

Are you from a North American ethnic minority group? Or, a majority student from a culturally diverse background? Selection for diversity awards is based on information provided in your admission materials, including written essays. These awards may be given in addition to the academic scholarships listed above.

Mosaic Award

Awarded to North American ethnic minority students or majority students from culturally diverse backgrounds who have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA or a 20 ACT or 940 SAT

  • Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative GPA of 2.5

Entrada Scholarship

Awarded to students who complete the Entrada Scholars Program with a grade of B- or better

  • Available for up to 5 years with a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • The application deadline for the Entrada Scholars Program is March 9. Apply here.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS

  • available for up to 2 years with a cumulative GPA of 2.8

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (for transfer students)

3.5 cumulative college GPA and Phi Theta Kappa member (not available to dually-enrolled high school students)

  • must be transferring a minimum of 12 credits
  • provided a copy of Phi Theta Kappa membership certifcate
  • available for up to 4 years with a cumulative GPA of 3.2
