Peter Braswell is a junior from Ohio, majoring
in Trombone Performance, Music Composition, and Film Studies. He
grew up in the church, with his father and step-father both being
ministers, and has always been involved in worship, one way
or another. At Calvin he has been involved in Jazz Vespers and playing
bass for chapels. Peter writes, "Naturally, I am interested in music
and the impact music has on our communal and personal worship. Also,
I would like to explore the application and effectiveness of film
in a worship setting." |

Jana Kelder is a sophomore music major from Pella,
Iowa . She writes, "I've always been a singer-I've been singing
pretty much since I could speak-but I discovered my passion for
worship in high school, when I was involved in planning and leading
chapel services, and I took a class on worship." She has served
on worship teams at her church and already at Calvin. Jana is eager
to have an opportunity to be even more involved in the spiritual
life at Calvin and to learn more about what it means to be an effective
worship leader, as well as how to better serve others.

Jeremy Koh is a first-year student, majoring in
Philosophy and Music in Worship. He was a worship leader for six
years in his church in Malaysia before coming to Calvin. In addition
to being a worship leader, he also played guitar and drums on his
church's praise team. Jeremy writes that his "passion is to worship
in ways that are relevant to a postmodern culture and yet timeless
to the truth of the Gospel." He hopes that through the Worship Apprentice
program he will become an effective servant to the Calvin community
and will also learn how to best serve this community through worship.

Laura McGiness is a junior from Midland, Michigan.
She writes, "Last semester when I joined the LOFT team as a pianist,
I discovered my passion for helping to lead worship as a musician.
As a Rhetoric (Communications) and Spanish major, I also enjoy all
things related to language, particularly public speaking and writing.
I look forward to using my musical and communicative abilities as a WA." Laura is excited about building relationships with
the other WAs and leadership teams, and she is eager to use this
opportunity to understand more about her spiritual gifts as she
prepares to become a college professor or work in full-time ministry.

Elizabeth Ross has been a dancer since she was
4 years old and grew up attending a variety of churches and denominations
in Springfield, Illinois . She loves to sing and play guitar, drums
and piano. As a first-year student who is majoring in Spanish and
International Development Studies, she is interested in working
with youth and hopes to work in an orphanage in a third world country.
She looks forward to being a WA, envisioning growth in Calvin's
community. Elizabeth writes, "Not only do I want to become a better
worship leader, I am also anxious to become a worship student -
to learn about different forms and styles of worship and grow as
a follower of Christ." |

Joe Sung is a sophomore pursuing a double major
in Business and International Relations. Having grown up in Nigeria,
Korea, and the Philippines, Joe has developed a love for both the
local and global church and hopes to learn more about integrating
ministry while professionally pursuing social justice and reconciliation
in law or international diplomacy. As a WA, Joe writes
that he is "looking forward to serving Christ's body while learning
more about the careful structure and planning necessary for successfully
directed, holistic worship in order to draw nearer to God in worship
as a community." |

Kyle Vanderzee is a sophomore from Grand Rapids,
the oldest of four boys. He grew up in Fifth Reformed Church, and
has been involved there since junior high playing bass and guitar,
and singing. As a Music in Worship major, he hopes to go on to
be a full-time worship leader at a church, with seminary also a
future possibility. About his dreams Kyle writes, "I would love
to own a sailboat someday, go to Hawaii or live near some mountains.
I am passionate about Christ, worship and making music with people."
He is excited for all that he will be able to learn and do through
this Worship Apprentice experience. |

Dale Yi is a junior from Downey, California, majoring
in Psychology and Economics. He has always been passionate about
worship. At Calvin, he has already served as a LOFT tech and is
excited to be serving the Calvin community by planning and leading
worship. Dale writes, “I hope that my Worship Apprenticeship
will help me to better understand what it means to serve, to worship,
and facilitate worship that is God honoring.” In the future,
he hopes to go into missions with his pastor, helping with the formation
of a Christian university in Cambodia.

Anna Zondervan is a first-year student from Alberta,
Canada. (For those of you who don't know where that is, it's just
north of the Montana border.) She is hoping to major in nursing,
with a missions minor. The middle child in a family of 5 kids, Anna
writes, "My dad is a pastor of a small country church and I love
being a PK!" She wanted to become a WA because she is interested
in leading worship, and she loves to sing and dance and make music.
