More about Aaron
Aaron Winkle is the Associate Chaplain. In this role he works primarily with upperclass students. As an Associate Chaplain Aaron serves as a pastoral counselor, mentor, and Bible study/small group leader. In addition, his responsibilities include directing the annual Gainey Leadership Retreat for student-athlete leaders, serving as the advisor for the ALLIANCE living-learning community, and developing and facilitating a five-session team building curriculum for Calvin’s athletic teams.
Aaron graduated from Calvin College in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. During his time at Calvin Aaron led the men’s basketball team to a NCAA Division III National Championship while earning accolades as National Player of the Year, All-American, and Academic All-American. Following graduation he and his wife Betsy moved to Denmark where Aaron played professional basketball for one season. After returning from Europe Aaron began pursuing his Master of Divinity degree while also working in the Student Life Division at Calvin. After five years of part-time study he will graduate from Calvin Theological Seminary in the spring of 2009.
Aaron enjoys spending his time away from Calvin with his wife Betsy and their two young children, Quincy and Annie. As a family they enjoy travelling, spending time with friends, and reading such classics as Go, Dog. Go! and Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
