Mission
The Enterprise Center at Calvin will foster and commercialize intellectual properties (IP). By various means it will seek to form "partnerships" with business, alumni, investors or other interested parties to commercialize products and services that are generated internally or brought to the college by third parties.
Vision
The Enterprise Center at Calvin leverages the expertises and experiences of Calvin faculty, staff, alumni and the business community for the benefit of students, Calvin and God's kingdom.
Structure
The Center's structure is critical to its success, and is driven by creative, entrepreneurial and action-oriented people. The Center is an integral part of the college but with a business sense at its core.
The Enterprise Center is part of the administrative structure of the college. Its executive director is appointed by the college president and works with the dean of research and scholarship and the director of financial services to direct the center's daily operations. It has two advisory boards, a Faculty Advisory Board and a Business Advisory Board. The Faculty Advisory Board is comprised of faculty from the various departments that directly impact the Enterprise Center. members recruit and review projects and ascertain their merits.
The Business Advisory Board is drawn from a wide cross section of entrepreneurs and are appointed by the college president. As Janel Curry, dean of research and scholarship and chair of the Faculty Advisory Board says, "They have, as they say, been there and done that. They (are) a key factor in the vetting of ideas that come through the doorway into and out of Calvin."
