Dr. Elaine Storkey

Dr. Storkey is one of the most experienced writers and speakers in relating the Christian Gospel to contemporary culture, and is well known to many for her BBC Radio 4 Thought for the Day broadcasts which she has been involved in for over 20 years, in addition to her work with the BBC World Service. She has taken part in many television documentaries, including a recent one on Climate Change. Elaine has a background in philosophy and sociology and has many years experience of teaching in the UK and overseas (most recently within the Theology Faculty of Oxford University and previously with King's College, London). For seven years she was Dr. John Stott's successor as the Executive Director of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. She is the UK President of Tear Fund, a Christian relief and development organization, and with them has travelled to many parts of the Global South.

Elaine is Vice President of the University of Gloucestershire, a member of the General Synod of the Church of England, the Chair of Fulcrum, board member of Youth For Christ, Trustee of the Church of England Newspaper, and a member of the Crown Nominations Commission. She has published with the University of Salford, helping business leaders explore and apply Christian ethics in their work, and is the author of many books on social analysis. She has been a columnist for several newspapers, including the Independent in the UK and Dagen in Sweden, and writes regularly for the Church Times. She was listed by the Guardian Newspaper as one of the 100 British Women Public Intellectuals.

Dr Storkey has just been elected to Membership of High Table at Newnham College, Cambridge University, and Cambridge will remain her base to continue her valued wider ministry in writing, broadcasting, research and public speaking
