Parents: Housing (On & Off-campus)

On-Campus Lodging

Calvin parents are always welcome to stay right on-campus at the Prince Conference Center. However, the availability of guest rooms at the PCC is rather limited during Commencement weekend. The Prince Conference Center is always pleased to provide a preferred rate for Calvin parents. Please identify yourself as a Calvin parent when making a reservation and at check-in.

Residence Hall suite layoutLodging for parents and families of graduates is also available on campus in the residence halls on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17, 2008. The residence hall rooms are arranged in suites — each suite features two bedrooms and a private bathroom. Bed linens and towels are furnished. The rooms are carpeted and have two twin-sized bunkbeds; all of the rooms are designated
as non-smoking. The cost of the rooms are:

Number of Guests
Cost Per Night*
Singles (one person)
$32.00/night
Doubles (two people)
$36.00/night
Family (3-4 people)
$40.00/night

The room price includes a continental breakfast in the Knollcrest Dining Hall on the mornings of May 17 and 18, 2008. Parents: you are invited to also consider attending the Breakfast for Parents of Graduates held on Saturday morning, May 17, at 9:00 am in the Prince Conference Center. Please note that the Breakfast for Parents of Graduates is a ticketed event and is not included in the price of staying overnight in the residence halls.

To reserve rooms in the residence halls, mail the reservation form (mailed to parents in December 2007) or contact the Conferences and Campus Events Office directly at 616-526-6280. Reservations made after May 1 cannot be guaranteed.

Upon arrival on campus follow the signs to the Kalsbeek-Huizenga residence hall complex. The registration desk is open on Friday, May 16 from 3:00 pm - 12:00 midnight (note that the 3:00 pm check-in is an updated check-in time and is three hours later than the time referenced in the December 2007 Commencement mailing); on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and later from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm; and on Sunday, May 18 the desk will be staffed from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. If you arrive after the registration desk has been closed, a key will be left in an envelope for you at the registration desk. The rooms will not be available for check-in on Friday, May 16 until after 12:00 noon.

Pre-payment for on campus lodging expenses can be made by mailing a check/money order or by credit card. If you do not pre-pay and payment will be made on campus at the time of arrival, please be prepared to make payment by check or cash only. Credit card payments cannot be processed at the residence hall reception desks.

(Parents & Families: Please note that the Senior Brunch on Saturday, May 17 is an event for the class of 2008 graduates only; in consideration of space limitations in the Commons Dining Hall, the college is not able to accommodate parents or family members at this event.)
