Women’s golf takes second in Furniture City Classic

The women’s golf team started off their season by finishing second in the Furniture City Classic hosted by Davenport at the Mines Golf Course in Grand Rapids. Aquinas placed first with 321 strokes; Calvin had 339 strokes. Davenport and Hope had 341 and 355 strokes, respectively.

Senior Carlia Canto won medalist honors with a career-best round of 75. Sophomore Casey Harkema shot a round of 82 for sixth place individually. Sophomores Jennie Poole, Shara Reynolds, Jeryl Schudel and Sarah Arendsen had scores of 88, 94, 101 and 102, respectively. Poole’s score was a career-best and Reynolds’ was a Calvin career-best.

The Knights compete again on Friday and Saturday at the Olivet Invitational.
