Halloween guide 2012

Throughout Grand Rapids, Halloween is celebrated in a multitude of ways. Leading up to Halloween there are hayrides, haunted houses, shows and corn mazes. Read on to find all there is to do in Grand Rapids for Halloween 2012.

Haunted Houses

The Haunt – Voted Michigan’s scariest haunted house by Haunt World and Zioptis, The Haunt boasts five separate attractions: The Haunt, The Darkmaze: Reborn, After Midnight, Terror Town 3D and Monster Paintball. With 25,000 square feet, there’s plenty of room for scares. Tickets are $15 with online discounts. The Haunt is located at 2070 Waldorf St., Walker MI, 49544.

Night of Fear – On a massive plot of 80,000 square feet, Night of Fear contains three haunted houses: Carnival of Souls, Brainfield Sanitarium: The Lost Wing and Castle Greyskull. General admission is $15 and a combo ticket is $20 — including entry to all three haunted houses, one food item, one drink item and a photo booth picture. Night of Fear is located at 3460 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Charter Township, MI 49525.

Forest of Fear – Claiming five terrifying acres, Forest of Fear is one of the few interactive outdoor haunted houses. Set off to explore of your own accord; the forest includes plenty of chilling and terrifying characters to run into. Tickets are $13. Forest of Fear is located at 8758 Patterson Ave SE, Caledonia, MI 49316.

Hayrides & Corn mazes

Robinettes’ Hayride and Corn Maze – Open Saturdays (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sundays (12 p.m. to 5 p.m.), Robinettes’ hayride runs through their fruit and apple orchards pulled by Belgian draft horses. Across the street, they also offer a corn maze next to their apple orchard. Hayride and corn maze tickets are $6 each. Robinette’s is located at 3142 4 Mile Road NE,

Hayrides at Bethke – In Grand Haven, Bethke farms offers 20-minute hayrides through scary scenes. In addition to the hayride, a corn maze and pumpkin picking is available. Bethke Farms is open weekday evenings and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday-Sunday.. Tickets are $3 a person.

Zombie Walks

The Zombie Dash – With unlimited registration, you can either dress as a zombie or a runner to participate in a hilarious and terrifying 5K through downtown Grand Rapids. Dressing as zombies is free, but as a runner is $35. The Zombie Dash happens on Oct. 27 in downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Haven Zombie Walk – Set at 4 p.m. on Oct. 27 and in downtown Grand Haven, those who enter dress as zombies and roam the town. For those who do not wish to walk, watching and walking downtown is encouraged.

Shows and Film

Halloween Hellraiser – Put on by 97.9 WGRD, there will be a free concert at Ah-Nab-Awen Park Oct. 27 featuring Dead Sara, The Bangups, Fine Fine Titans and more. All ages welcome.

Wealthy Theatre – On Oct. 30, Wealthy Theatre will show “The Exorcist” as a part of The Meanwhile Movie series. Admission is $6. The film starts at 8 p.m.
