|The Tangible Intangible - Miranda Brouwer
From January 23 to February 13, the Calvin College Department of Art and Art History presents "The Tangible Intangible," an exhibition by Miranda Brouwer at the (106) South Division Gallery.
Brouwer is a senior Bachelor of Fine Arts student at Calvin College who presents a series of site-specific installations in this exhibition. She combines nails and thread over gallery walls to produce intricate images that explore memory, sexuality and faith. Scale, both in physical scope and in the loftiness of the themes explored, is countered by the small, physical, tactile attention paid to each work.
She deconstructs and abstracts the outlines of women in order "to show the distorted nature of desire in our society." Click to read the entire artist statement.
