The graphics program at Calvin has come a long way since the first class on Graphic Reproduction was taught back in 1976. Back then, typography and illustration by hand were the norm. Since then, a radical change has occurred not only in the curriculum, but also in the graphic design field itself. With the introduction of the World Wide Web and new technology such as digital photography, computer animation, and desktop publishing, the design field has expanded into new environments and audiences, redefining the role of the graphic designer.
