GETTING DIFFERENT IN NAKED WOODS
March 7 - April 26, 2014
From March 7 - April 26, the Center Art Gallery at Calvin College presents GETTING DIFFERENT IN NAKED WOODS, an exhibition by Chicago-based artist Mike Andrews. In the exhibit, themes of paradise, optimism and participation are given form in rowdy tapestries, quasi-functional sculpture and clunky animations. Dominated by three voluminous tapestries of yarn, the exhibition is balanced by three digital annimations that serve as cinematic narratives and links to the larger works.
An Assistant Professor in the Department of Fiber and Material Studies as the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Andrews is also the Academic Director at the Ox-bow School of Art and Artists' Residency.
