Voces - Mandy Cano Villalobos
October 26 - December 15, 2012
From October 26 - December 15, the Center Art Gallery at Calvin College presents Voces, a performative installation that addresses the mass femicide of Juárez, Mexico. As an ongoing act of mourning and protest, Mandy Cano Villalobos has been embroidering the names of individual murder victims into white blouses. The work has been exhibited at various galleries and sites (visit her website to see documentation of these other sites). At Calvin, student groups will be joining in this project through their participation in sewing circles.
