Interception

April 2-24, 2004

From April 2-24, the Center Art Gallery at Calvin College presents Interception, an installation that examines the ambiguous moment when a course of action is interrupted and changed.

Using common references in sports and security, Michelle Vondiziano, Kevin Buist, Raleigh Chadderdon, and Juan Garcia seek to explore the properties of this turning point and the circumstances that simultaneously deny an outcome and instigate another. Within an environment that simulates a number of incidents, the artists chart human understanding of interception and the opportunity for new outcomes and endings. Using visual information to isolate and examine these turning points, they search for a new understanding of this action.

An Opening Reception is scheduled for Friday, April 2 from 7-9pm.

The barrier-free Center Art Gallery, located on the lower level of the Spoelhof College Center, is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. There is no admission charge.
