HERMAN MILLER PICNIC POSTERS

October 11 - November 8, 2000

Summer celebrations are common events in West Michigan. Brightly colored posters have announced the Herman Miller corporate picnic each year for the past thirty. Two designers have produced the posters providing us with serial solutions to the common annual design problem. Steve Frykholm composed the first twenty starting with the image of an enthusiastic bite of corn on the cob. For twenty years ice cream, watermelon, pie, and other picnic food inspired Frykholm's posters of saturated colors and bold designs winning appreciation both here and well beyond Michigan.
