Job fairs are a great place to network with employers. Company representatives attend job fairs to meet potential employees and increase awareness of their organization.
Job Fair Tips
- Bring multiple copies of your resume printed on higher quality paper (the number of copies will depend on how many employers you are targeting)
- Wear professional attire (e.g. a dark business suit)
- Research companies attending before the event
- Prepare a brief “elevator pitch” or introduction of yourself, but also prepare questions to ask the employer

Job Search Links
Online research should be one aspect of job searching, not your entire job search strategy. This method of conducting a job search is not meant to replace face-to-face networking or a trip to our office.
Before you post your resume online, ask yourself a few questions such as privacy protection and the length of time your resume will remain in the service provider's database. Consider removing personal information, like your address, from your resume, and using an email address that you set up for job-related activities only. Be very cautious when sharing personal information over the internet, to employers and to job search sites.
