“Racism dehumanizes us all — Dismantling racism heals us all.”

Recognizing that racism goes beyond personal prejudice, the Office for Multicultural Affairs in partnership with the Human Resources Office and the Office for Intercultural Student Development offers a Power Analysis of how racism functions in institutions, and offers tools to create antiracist transformation.

This full-day workshop is an expanded version of the 90-minute Anti-Racism 101 workshop offered by the Office for Multicultural Affairs. It is a great opportunity for individuals who have never participated in an Anti-Racism workshop and for those wanting to refresh and expand the knowledge and skills gained in the 90-minute sessions. Using a variety of interactive tools, it explores the historical development of institutional racism and its continuing impact. Participants will examine ongoing realities of racism, including the identity-shaping power racism has on People of Color and White people; explore racism’s individual, institutional and cultural manifestations; and consider the link between racism and other forms of oppression. A strategic methodology to dismantle racism will be introduced, focusing specifically on applying principles of organizing and social/cultural change.

Come prepared to think critically about the nature of racism in US culture, to wrestle with the tough questions,  and to begin the acquisition of skills to dismantle racism.

Participants must attend the whole session, lunch is provided.

When: Wednesday, January 28, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
