The Time & The Record Of The Time: How Music Saves Us

Drawing on the work of Laurie Anderson, Chance the Rapper, David Bazan & others, David Dark will discuss the communal function of song, the responsibility music takes on, and the responsibility we have to the music that gets through to us. If music itself is a neighborhood expression of care, how might we become better hosts to its witness? As people who aspire toward prophetic hospitality, how do we bear witness to its witness?

David Dark teaches at Belmont University and Riverbend Maximum Security Institution. He's also the author of Everyday Apocalypse, The Sacredness of Questioning Everything, and Life's Too Short To Pretend You're Not Religious.
